Trip to Manchester

Najib decided to come to Manchester. So almost obviously, all of us were semi-forced to got there and see him blab about the country and its development. Bla bla bla.. I slept through the entire thing.

After that, a bunch of us decided to tour Manchester and Trafford, with tour guide Vinod. Went to Old Trafford and its souvenir shop. Went to Trafford Center (centre) which is friggin huge. Ate a lot of expensive junk like pretzels and cookies. Went to Manchester city center and ate some more. Ice cream and kebab something. All in all, it was a satisfying trip. Got to eat a lot and not for that much money!

The ride back was horrendous because the driver was on crack or something. And AFTER arriving, I recieved the most piss-offing news ever... this week. But let's not talk about that here. Let's look at some pictures!!!

Malaysia Night - after the show

So Malaysia Night has come and gone. I don't really want to lament on all the could'ves and would'ves. But all in all, it was a satisfying event. And even saddening now that I've come to realize that I won't have much to look forward to in the evenings now that there are no more practices. Boo hoo.

I don't have pictures of the performances just yet. At least no good ones that are worthy enough to be on my fotopage (ahem). So feast your eyes instead on pictures of us AFTER the show.

If you're shocked that my next entry is about yet another eating session, then obviously you haven't been visiting my fotopage enough. Shame on you!

The menu this time was:
- nasi putih
- grilled chicken (in oyster sauce and nando's barbecue marinade)
- and umm.. yea that was it..

But I had 6 drumsticks!! In one sitting! Whooaa!! That's got to be a record!

After cleaning up, we played a drinking game (just with Orange Tango, mind you) and I lost pretty bad and had my share of Orange Tango shots. *stomach-ache*

SingSoc Chinese New Year Dinner

still on the way...
oh wait, we haven't even reached coventry yet (kelvin, btw)

Wow.

Faeez has been spending a lot of money and time on food and entertainment lately, hasn't he?

This is a Chinese New Year dinner organized by the Singaporean Society in Birmingham. I know I'm not Chinese, much less celebrate Chinese New Year. But an 8-course dinner? You can't beat that. Even if it WAS 16 pounds. (plus 4 pounds for transport). I even became a member of the society.

Besides good food and good company, there was also a mahjong session (or a poker session for those of us who didn't know how to play mahjong) and karaoke!

(Oh, and darn, I forgot to snap pictures of all the dishes)

Happy Chinese New Year, everybody!

I shouldve shaved... nice pics dude same time next year! Wed 25-May-2005 08:22

19th February's going to be a big night for us in Warwick, because that's when Malaysia Night is!!!

So quite predictably, we're all busy with rehearsals, which we have every weeknight. Basically the whole show is going to consist of a traditional dance sequence, a play and a dikir barat performance. And I'm in all three! Whoooaaaaaaaaaaaaa.......

Anyhoo, these are pictures from the first few rehearsals. They don't actually show us doing any rehearsing. But, what the hey..

Tak bestnya raya kat Coventry! Takde lembu. Takde kambing. Takde korban. Takbir pun takde. Semayang ade tapi tak pegi.

Selamat ada makan.

It was held in Cryfield Pavilion. And semua orang Melayu kat Coventry (including people from Coventry University and a bunch of postgrads I'd never met before) datang makan... The food was good.

Kambing... yummm...

BNM Scholars Welcome Back Dinner!!

Potatoes & Tomatoes
mmmm... chicken
mmmm... chicken, again!
View all 21 photos...
It was the first Friday after term-start (with horrendous deadlines coming up) and we needed some cheering up. And what better way to cheer ourselves up if not food? So we BNM scholars decided to gather in Rootes H3 Kitchen and cook up a storm! And if that wasn't enough, a special guest came in the form of Jien Loong... all the way from LSE! Yippee! Because not only did he bring extra chicken, he brought dessert!

Slaver at our scrumptious menu:
- nasi putih (yummmmm)
- ayam masak merah (instant MAGGI style... tak jadi sangat)
- boiled broccoli (courtesy of Chef Diyana)
- .... and of course dessert! (wait and see!)
